Institute Development Advocacy and Applied Care (IDRAAC)
Institute for Development, Research, Advocacy and Applied Care (IDRAAC) is a Lebanese, non-profit organization, permit No. 63/A.D., amended 209/A.D. at the Lebanese Ministry of Interior and Municipalities on 14/05/2002.
IDRAAC is one of the first mental health organizations in Lebanon dedicated to promoting mental well-being through scientific research, clinical care, and community-based programs. With over 40 years of experience, IDRAAC provides evidence-based interventions across the region to individuals of all ages, focusing on making mental health a fundamental human right. IDRAAC has updated the Mental Health Law in Lebanon through collaboration with the MOPH and Lebanese Parliament Health Section and also collaborated with MOSA for the development and subsequent revision of the Law of older Persons in Lebanon
Its objectives include:
1- Conducting scientific research and providing theoretical and practical training in all areas related to mental health, psychiatry, psychological, behavioral, and educational sciences, as well as associated fields. Publishing peer-reviewed research manuscripts in collaboration with leading international academic institutions, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and evidence-based mental health practices
2- Producing and disseminating specialized audio-visual materials and publications upon approval from the relevant authorities.
3- Promoting communication, collaboration, and engagement among members for scientific, professional, and social purposes.
4- Training psychologists in therapeutic skills and conceptual frameworks in accordance with the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
5- Designing and implementing training programs in the field of mental health and granting certificates of participation.
IDRAAC is committed to improving mental wellbeing, reducing stigma, and expanding access to evidence-based services for vulnerable populations. Our overall objective is to promote psychological wellbeing, strengthen community resilience, and ensure equitable access to quality mental health care particularly for those most underserved and at risk.
Our work combines clinical services, community-based interventions, research, and awareness-raising. Core programs include individual, group, and community-based mental health and psychosocial support; public awareness and stigma reduction campaigns; capacity-building and training for professionals and community actors; and digital outreach reaching wide segments of the population. IDRAAC also contributes to research and evidence generation to inform policy and strengthen mental health systems in Lebanon
